In Mr. Poulin's 3rd/4th grade experiential learning classroom at Hollis, students presented their National Park Service projects. After a study of national parks, students chose their favorite one and engaged in research, writing, design, and art to create a display shared with classes throughout the building. They worked on speaking and presentation skills as they answered questions posed by teachers, students, and Mr. Gleason.

Another Hollis-BEHS partnership
Last year I blogged about our Hollis Elementary students having the benefit of partnering with Bonny Eagle High School Biology students to learn about gardening-related topics. Last week I was able to join Mr. Brandon Poulin's 3rd/4th grade Experiential Learning class on one of their trips to BEHS in a similar partnership. Mr. Don Denico's Construction course is working with the Hollis students during trimester 2 on designing and building towers, incorporating math, science, and engineering topics. These towers will be tested to determine how much weight they can hold before collapsing. This partnership in student learning is happening each trimester, between a class of Mr. Denico's students and Mr. Poulin's students. During trimester 1 the students designed, created, and tested Marble Mazes.
